We don’t have to be perfect to hear Him.

We don’t have to be perfect to hear Him.
.
Boy, if that’s not one of the most factual statements, and a very comforting one.
.
I am far from perfect, and I make a lot of mistakes. Unfortunately, I am a creature of habit, and I often make the same mistakes more than once.
.
It’s fine to make mistakes, even the same mistakes over and over—let me explain.
.
We were all children. We all learned how to walk, talk, eat and ride a bike (maybe not all, but most). When we were teenagers, we learned how to drive. How many of you are still learning or have given up on parallel parking because you always make a mistake when doing it?
.
The point is this; we didn’t give up on most of those things; we pretty much perfected them.
.
We practiced and messed up and repeated the process until we learned from our mistakes. The same concept applies to everything.
.
If we have to be perfect to hear Him, we would never hear Him. Pick yourself up every time you make a mistake. He isn’t going to give up on us. We all have to go through this life and He is fully aware of that.
.
He knows it’s going to be challenging.
.
He knows we are going to fall through on different commitments.
.
He knows we are creatures of habit and will repeatedly make the same mistakes.
.
He wants us to learn how to put our left foot in front of our right foot, knowing we will fall.
.
He wants us to learn how to balance and pedal our bike at the same time, knowing at some point we will crash.
.
He wants us to learn how to apply the scriptures so we can hear Him, knowing there will be times we forget or lose sight of doing so.
.
Our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ love us. Life on earth is to be many things. They want us to experience happiness, sorrow, pain, and pleasure. It’s how we become like them.
.
Hear Him!
