Are you stuck in a comfort zone?
.
Take time to advance your position. We can become comfortable with the way life is. This isn’t always a bad thing, but look for further opportunities to grow and advance the Lord’s work.
.
We are an interesting group of people. One of my favorite things to do is people watch. I enjoy entertainment and we are all entertaining individuals. We all have unique behaviors.
.
What’s wonderful about it is this, we are all the offspring of Heavenly Father. I would like to believe we entertained one another by our actions in Heaven the same as we do here on earth.
.
I’m not talking about making fun of people or watching people to mock their appearance. I enjoy watching people to try to understand what may be going on in their lives.
.
Yesterday, I was at lunch, and I was watching an individual. It was apparent she was having a rough day. She sat there and looked extremely exhausted and tired. I was curious where she was from and why she was sitting where she was sitting. She was intriguing to me. The spirit prompted me “Go ask her if she needs help.”
.
I didn’t of course. Why? I didn’t have a chance. She walked right over to my table and requested directions to a homeless shelter. She had traveled from Idaho to Utah and needed a place to stay. She told us all about herself.
.
I thought about this moment the rest of the day and for a few moments today. It made me think, ‘Wow, am I in a comfort zone. Would I have listened to the prompting of the spirit to speak to her if she wouldn’t have come to my table first?’
.
President J. Reuben Clark, Jr., spoke of a desired balance. I think we can all learn from this.
.
He said, “There is spiritual learning just as there is material learning, and the one without the other is not complete”
.
If we are not spiritually learning, we are not going to understand when we are being guided by the spirit. I knew I was being guided by the spirit yesterday; I just didn’t have the opportunity to step into action. For me, it was an excellent reminder to act before acted upon.
.
I was grateful for the reminder not to sit comfortably and never miss an opportunity to serve.
.
Hear him!
