Are you one who becomes inspired or discouraged by the example of your leaders?

Are you one who becomes inspired or discouraged by the example of your leaders?
.
Here is why I ask the question.
.
Pick a leader in the Gospel—I’ll pick my little brother Nick. Just pick someone who you feel is a leader to you.
.
Does this person make you feel inadequate?
.
Does this person make you feel like you don’t have the inherent capacity of others?
.
Does this person make you feel that no matter how hard you try, you are never good enough?
.
If you answer “yes” to any of these things, then you can ask yourself this—Is your life a race?
.
Your Heavenly Father never asked you to race your brothers in sisters—his sons and daughters.
.
My little brother Nick has qualities I admire and is an outstanding leader in the Gospel. Never has he made me feel any of those things I’ve listed above; Instead, he has held me accountable to be the best person I can be and he’s done it with encouragement and setting a great example.
.
If you are a leader in the Gospel, your number one goal should be compassion and empathy. Your goal should be mentorship and ministering to those who have physical and spiritual needs.
.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we can learn from His example. Don’t ever make others feel smaller than you because you feel you’re in a higher calling than them. Always teach and lead by love and kindness. (And, hard love is sometimes necessary.)
.
“The plan of salvation is not a reality show where you have to beat out other contestants to win.” Elder Wirthlin.
.
Be the kind of leader you would want leading you.
.
Be the kind of example you want someone to set for you to follow.
.
Be as humble as you would want your leader to be to you.
.
Love with the same passion you would want your leader to show you (I enjoy hard love truths).
.
I’m grateful for leadership examples like my little brother Nick is to me. Stop racing and start trying to beat out all the contestants. Our Heavenly Father doesn’t have favorites. He blesses the honest and faithful.
.
Hear Him!
