The gift of freedom

The Gift of Freedom.
.
I’m grateful this time of year for the gift of freedom and for all the armed forces who fought for freedom and still fight for freedom.
.
Those who disagree with me and do not believe freedom is a gift, well, you’re mistaken. If you didn’t participate, you didn’t earn it. The brave men and women who sacrificed their lives, they gifted you your freedom.
.
A prior Chief police of mine posted this photo. As I looked at the photo, it brought gratitude to my heart and mind.
.
Matthew 16:25, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”
.
Why is America so important, and why do we fight for our freedoms in this land?
.
Because there is a God, and in Him, there is trust. This Land is sacred ground, and our forefathers and founders of this Nation were guided here for an important reason—the restoration of the Gospel.
.
Elder Holland reminds us, “The most sacred of places, will always be those locations which God has designated for holy and eternal purposes, locations where he is the “doer of the deed.”
.
”These places are revered forever by his faithful children wherever they may be. America is such a place.”
.
“The choicest part of this earthly creation was a garden “eastward in Eden” where God placed our first parents, Adam and Eve.”
.
“This resplendent place filled with paradisiacal glory was located on that part of the land mass where the city Zion, or the New Jerusalem of the earth’s last days, would eventually be built. (See D&C 57:1–3, D&C 84:1–3; and Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 3:74.)”
.
This Land was a gift to to us, to freely worship the God we love. In return, our Military personal and Law Enforcement officers protect the gift we have been given.
.
I am grateful for the gift of freedom and the opportunity to live in the Nation where the gift of mortal life began. As you think of your freedom, turn your heart and mind to those who provide you the opportunities you have. Hear Him!
