Christ provides healing comfort through adoption.
.
On December 17th, 2016, our two nieces (Ren & Rilan) were sealed to our eternal family.
.
I’m eternally grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the opportunity to be together, not only in this life but through eternity.
.
The girls miss their mommy, and so do we, but the power of Christ’s atonement has provided healing comfort through the process.
.
Adoption is something I never thought of growing up and as difficult as this may be for those involved, my wife and I knew adoption may afford a greater opportunity for these two children to live a life of happiness.
.
There is a photo that depicts a little child sitting on the Savior’s knee, and the child is looking up to Him. As I considered adoption, this photo came to my mind over and over again.
.
It didn’t take me long to realize these children came straight from a loving Heavenly Father, and He needed us to continue raising them, so they could help complete His work on this earth.
.
It wasn’t about my needs or my wants. It wasn’t about my wife’s needs or her wishes. It was about the mission of our Heavenly Father—His will and His plan.
.
Everything in this world is His. Nothing belongs to us. We are all His children, and He has asked us to look after and protect His flock.
.
As we put aside our personal desires and seek our spiritual needs and the desires of our Father in Heaven, we will begin to see the eternal picture.
.
As we consider adoption, may we consider the following.
.
BRIGHAM YOUNG: “If any of the Gentiles will believe, we will lay our hands upon them that they may receive the Holy Ghost, and the Lord will make them of the house of Israel. They will be broken off from the wild olive tree, and be grafted into the good and tame olive tree, and will partake of its sap and fatness. … It is so with the House of Israel and the Gentile nations; if the Gentiles are grafted into the good olive tree they will partake of its root and fatness.” (Journal of Discourses, 2:269.)
.
I’m eternally grateful for the gift of adoption and the trust my sister-in-law had in my wife and I before she passed away.
.
We will see you soon, Alexis.
.
Hear Him!
❤️ Adoption = Love
A Temple experience taught me that it is preordained, and I’ll never forget it. Forever grateful for His hand in our earthly lives and the purpose of all that we experience.
