Partake of the Fruit from Tree of Life.

Partake of the Fruit from Tree of Life.
.
I never really thought of the Tree of Life this way, but after listening to a talk this morning and during my studies, it was one of those ”no-brainer” moments for me.
.
Before I get into what I learned, let’s ask ourselves a few questions.
.
Why did Lehi want his family to eat the fruit of the tree of life?
.
What does Heavenly Father want for all his children?
.
What do the symbols in Lehi’s dream mean?
.
These are some good questions to ponder and study. I’m not going to go over the answers here, but will leave it up to you.
.
What I want to emphasize is the Fruit from the Tree of Life.
.
Jack R. Christianson explains this so well.
.
He begins with Lehi’s dream and helps you visualize the tree that Lehi saw. The tree symbolizes the love of God.
.
He then asks, who is the love of God—Well, Jesus Christ.
.
As we take a look at the fruit’s purpose, we know it’s purpose is to ”make one happy.”
.
How does fruit hang from a tree? By the stem.
.
In Isaiah 11, what is a stem referred to as being? Jesus Christ. Also in D&C 113.
.
In the Book “Christ and the New Covenant: The Messianic Message of the Book of Mormon” Elder Jeffery R. Holland says the Savior literally hung from a tree.
.
So, who would the fruit of The Tree of Life be? It is Jesus Christ and His atonement.
.
When we partake of the fruit, what happens to us? Well, Brother Christianson concludes and says, “It makes us Happy.”
.
I have a clearer perspective of the Tree of Life in Lehi’s dream. It no longer appears as a tree with beautifully blossoming white fruit. No, it’s the Savior Jesus Christ and the atonement.
.
He was literally nailed to a tree—and just like the Fruit that hangs from a stem, He hung from His tree—the cross. He bore the sins of the world, so we can partake of eternal life. The delicious fruit hangs from the Tree of Life to be eaten and enjoyed.
.
May we enjoy the fruit from the Tree of Life and find joy through the atonement of Jesus Christ. After all, “men are, that they might have joy.” 2 Nephi 2:25.
.
Hear Him!
