Serve a mission.

Serve a mission.
.
What a random day—My mission has been on my mind a lot recently, probably more so than it has in a very long time.
.
I felt prompted to write about my mission today, and as I sat down to write, I was able to connect with a member of my mission. I will never forget my first Thanksgiving at the Castillo home. I’m forever grateful to them and all the wonderful people.
.
We are often asked to do difficult things that take us away from home, uncomfortable and terrifying things. These are the times we grow and strengthen our character.
.
My mission taught me I could do anything. It taught me that if I want to make things happen, I must have the drive and will power. Nothing comes easy, and I don’t think anything should come easy.
.
When I say “Serve a mission,” I’m saying it not only to members of the church but to everyone. A mission doesn’t literally mean you need or have a desire to serve a mission for the Church.
.
My dad never served a mission for the church; however, my dad served a mission in many other ways. He served the Lord and he served his family. He had three boys serve missions and a daughter who received a full-ride scholarship for track.
.
His example of determination, hard work, and faith in the Lord was his mission.
.
Do something! Go become someone and achieve great things. The sky is the limit!
.
I left on my mission 15 years ago. I came home and joined Law Enforcement five months later. I was married a year after I returned home. I purchased our first home and moved in the same day we returned home from our honeymoon. We have five kids, and everything we need.
.
I have been blessed every step of the way. The Lord has given me more than I could expect. He has guided me through trials and stumbling blocks. All of it because I decided to serve Him and continue to serve Him.
.
Every day is an opportunity to serve a mission. If you’re thinking you missed your opportunity, you’re wrong. Start today! Serve the Lord and choose Him.
.
As we serve our earthly mission, we will receive what we put into it. I would suggest you pour your entire heart and soul into everything you do.
.
Look to D&C 4:1-4, and Hear Him!
