Laughter will always win.
.
In this world of darkness, anger, and frustration—we live.
.
I’ve experienced many days of my own personal darkness, as I’m sure you all have.
.
We don’t have to remain in that state and I refuse to live in a world of darkness. Just because it’s dark, doesn’t mean I can’t be my own source of light. I only succumb to darkness if I allow it to prevail over me.
.
I enjoy laughter. I enjoy having fun and doing enjoyable things. I am always pulling some sort of joke.
.
”Mike, are you being serious right now?”
.
That’s my favorite question. Everyone knows my sense of humor, and no one knows when to take me seriously.
.
I understand how difficult things in life can be, but I also realize there is a lot of laughter to partake in.
.
Have you ever tried laughing at a certain situation? I’m extremely cynical (part of the job title I work in, I guess) and I have to make light of certain situations.
.
A few weeks ago, we were in-route to a protest that was getting out of hand. We armored up and my subordinate looked over at me. I could tell he was a little worried about the unknown, and he asked me a question.
.
”Sarge, have you ever had to do anything like this in your career?”
.
Instead of lying and saying, ”I sure have, let me tell you my war stories.” I said, ”Oh no, first time!”
.
He looked at me in disbelief and we both busted up laughing to tears. He came to his supervisor for moral support and guidance; however, he got the truth, and his fears were eased away, thanks to laughter.
.
I’ve learned over the years, if we can laugh at things, we can usually live with It. Humor can help us improve our perspectives, and often, it may just lighten our load.
.
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Prov. 17:22).
.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland taught, “Jesus found special joy and happiness in children and said all of us should be more like them—guileless and pure, quick to laugh.”
.
Like my story, we are all going to find ourselves in situations we have not anticipated and we may not be sure how to handle it. I promise, If we can laugh, we may find that at least some of the handling takes care of itself.

❤️ Great advice! Remember Pres Hinkley’s thoughts (paraphrased) “Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured,” Sure makes the load feel lighter at least
