Forty Years of Effort

Forty Years of Effort.
.
The Lord loves effort.

President Nelson instructed the children during the last conference, “the Lord loves effort because effort brings rewards that can’t come without it.”
.
I have witnessed many individuals expecting to be given everything without putting forth effort—from sports, work, school, and other activities.
.
We need to listen to the Prophet. He is literally telling us what the Lord wants us to hear. When he was asked if being The Prophet was hard, he responded and said, “Of course it’s hard. Everything to do with becoming more like the Savior is difficult.”
.
That is no different for us. Being me “Mike Terry” is hard. Being YOU is hard. Why is that? I would hope because we are all trying our best to become like the Savior.
.
When you’re following the Savior the best that you can and life becomes challenging, GOOD! That means you are doing the right thing.
.
The Prophet went on to teach, “It takes effort, a lot of hard work, a lot of study, and there’s never an end. That’s good! That’s good, because we’re always progressing. Even in the next life we’re making progress.”
.
Have faith, brothers, and sisters. If the Prophet tells us to have effort, it means the Lord is telling us he wants to see the effort.
.
We are going to be okay. We are not being asked to kill ourselves over things. He is only asking us to be diligent in doing His work.
.
I echo the same words of President Nelson, “I plead with you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”
.
Do your best to hear Him, and He will guide you to your true potential as you give forth your best effort. When I look at the Salt Lake City Temple, I see the effort. The effort put forth still blesses our lives today.
