What kind of Christian are you?

We’ve all heard the scripture, ”Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matt 7:15.

The same applies to you and I. The scripture continues, and we learn how to identify someone that is fake, ”Ye shall know them by their fruits.” verse 16.
.
Here is my pitch: Are you the kind of Christian that enjoys the title and goes with the culture or are you the kind of Christian the Lord asks you to be?

As I read ”The Godhead and Plan of Salvation” by Elder Oaks, the following statement stood out crystal clear.

”It is not even enough for us to be convinced of the gospel; we must act and think so that we are converted by it. In contrast to the institutions of the world, which teach us to know something, the plan of salvation and the gospel of Jesus Christ challenge us to become something.”

My favorite part, ”We must ACT and THINK so we are converted by it.”

You can read all the scripture you want. You can pray all you want and you can go to church every Sunday; however, that means nothing if you don’t ACT.

You are never going to be truly converted to the gospel or the Lord of you don’t apply the scriptures to your daily activities. You are never going to hear the Lord in prayer if you pray like you’re ordering fast food. You are never going to renew and feel cleansed by the sacrament if you’re just going for ”status quo.”

Don’t be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. If you have no intention of applying the principles of the gospel to your life, why waste your time?

No one is forcing you to go to church. I’d have much more respect for someone who isn’t going for cultural purposes to ”fit in.” You have your agency, so be true to yourself.
.
Of course, we want everyone to come to church, to study the gospel, and to hear the Lord; however, the sour attitude and non-contrite behavior have no room.

The Lord is sifting, and if you think your sheep’s clothing will hide the wolf, you’re wrong. He will reveal our true selves. Be an example and be a true Christian.

He will cleanse His temple!
