Rest for the weary traveler

Rest for the weary traveler.
.
If you’re in my same shoes, it’s nice to come home from work and plop down. The past few months have been tiresome, and many of the days, I lack the sleep I need. Why?
.
For me, it’s the anticipation of ’what’s next, what’s to come?’ The emotional anxiety that comes from our current events and often the feelings of despair. What kind of life will my kids have to endure?
.
With that, how do we find rest and how can we overcome these emotional roller coaster rides?
.
In April of 1980, President Kimball spoke of the exact same thing our current Prophet Russell M. Nelson has been teaching us.
.
”Our success … will largely be determined by how faithfully we focus on living the gospel in the home… That is surely true and, in like manner, we will be spiritually successful to the degree that we are good neighbors and good friends to those in the household of faith and to our nonmember friends.”
.
It’s that simple.
.
When you are weary, pick up your scriptures.
.
When you are weary, pray to your Father in Heaven.
.
When you are weary, try being obedient to something you may not be doing.
.
When you are weary, live the Gospel of Christ.
.
There are so many things we CAN be doing.
.
“Like a welcome, green oasis to the weary desert traveler is the gentle invitation of our Lord: ‘Come. . . .learn of me; . . and ye shall find rest unto your souls (Matt. 11:28-29),’ “
.
Over the past few month, I have taken note from Elder Henry B. Eyring. He spoke of a time when he was prompted to write his thoughts for his future posterity.
.
Writing has helped me not only study my scripture differently, but it’s helped me become closer to my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. It’s also helped me to hear the spirit and follow Heavenly promptings.
.
Whatever it is that helps you find rest from being weary, act today. Know you are loved, and you’re a child of God.
.
Hear Him and be not weary!
