How are you dad’s doing?

I am FAR from an exemplary father. I can be the coolest dad because of my profession, my home gym, muscles, truck, green grass, and whatever else my kids deem ’awesome.’

But, what example am I setting when it comes to righteousness? Are you a righteous father?

Wouldn’t we all agree that the influence of a righteous father is just as valuable?

I wouldn’t be shy to believe that our, ”children’s intellectual, emotional, and social development, masculinity and femininity, even the ability to function effectively in a future marriage, appear to be influenced by the father’s personal relationship with the child and with the child’s mother.” Spencer W Kimball.

In this picture, you see me coaching my son. It’s his first-ever football game, and I’m like a charging bull out of the chute. I expect him to know the game, but I quickly realize he doesn’t, and his 7-year-old alligator tears humble me.

We need to remember they aren’t always teachable, that they won’t always listen. And often we have to take them on their terms and at their times.

How do we show our kids a righteous father? I would say the more we draw close to them, and the more time we spend with them. Take time to make time.

Some of the excuses we sometimes make are, ’not enough time, frustration, preoccupied with other matters.’
.
Don’t be afraid to pay attention to your kids. Always take time to share personal experiences with them and, most importantly, do things with your children. Set the example! You can be the ’cool’ dad by setting the righteous example.

Your children will grow up, but they’ll never outgrow the need to spend time with their father.

The Lord Jesus Christ never failed his church. He was never untrue to anyone. He was faithful & gave all.

If we follow Christ’s example, they will respond to our loving & exemplary leadership. It will be automatic. We won’t need to demand it.
