I believe that being rested is essential to having the energy necessary to reach perfection.
.
I am one to burn myself out quickly. I set a goal and work until I finish it. It doesn’t matter what it is; if I want it done, I’ll get it done.
.
I have done this many times, and I still do it. I burn myself completely out and neglect my other duties.
.
I think we can do this with our assignment here on earth, too. Hopefully, we are trying our best to be Christlike. Have you ever caught the spirit to a point where you want to do nothing but become the best person you possibly can?
.
This is a fantastic feeling, and it’s great when that happens!
.
Sometimes we find ourselves on a dead sprint and begin to tire out. That’s normal! You can’t run at a race 24/7. At least I can’t. If you can, I want to know your secret.
.
We need to find a balance, and I’m not the one to tell you how to do that. I genuinely believe that’s a life experience you have to figure out on your own.
.
I can suggest you pace yourself. After years of trial and error, I have learned that I need to have many solutions available. I burn out on one thing and move to the next, instead of finding ways to combine them all and be well-rounded in everything.
.
Yes, we can learn to wisely choose the solutions that work best for the situations we are facing each day. Over the years, I have learned to follow King Benjamin’s counsel to “see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength.” (Mosiah 4:27)
.
Always start your day with prayer, and talk to Him about your plans for the day. Ask Him to guide you and try to hear Him.
.
I promise you the Lord will help you learn how to balance your life. It may not be overnight, but gradually you will figure it out.
.
In Him, you will find rest and be perfected.
