Children learn from our example.
.
I had a few Sunday meetings today, and one of the thoughts brought to the table was children watching the adults.
.
I’m used to this. As a police officer, I get the opportunity to see the faces of little children light up! They see me in uniform or driving in my patrol car. It’s fun for them to hear the sirens or see the flashing red and blue lights.
.
They love to see the duty belt with all my gear. The shiny badge I wear is intriguing to them. They all want sticker badges and police paraphernalia (no, not that kind 😉 ).
.
I’m not just a ”dad, friend, neighbor, coach, etc.” I am an example.
.
This goes for every single one of us, and we all need to start seeing ourselves as that. We are examples! You’re being watched, and the children are taking notes.
.
What are you doing around the home?
.
What are you doing in the neighborhood?
.
What are you doing at work?
.
What are you doing as a coach or a leader?
.
What example do you set in ministering efforts?
.
What do you talk about when children are present?
.
I believe you get the point. You are an example!.
.
One of the best examples we have is, of course, our Savior. He wants the children to come to Him. He wants to teach them His way. As a child, I was taught about Jesus. I had pictures of Him all around our house. I learned of His great example.
.
I was taught of His example by my parents, my siblings, ward members, scout leaders, grandparents, friends, mission companions, mission president, neighbors, and the list continues.
.
I followed the excellent examples. I had so many great examples in my life that I knew when someone was setting a bad example.
.
I testify that you are the future of our children. Those children who know you, they watch you.
.
The children learn from us! Hear Him, and He will teach you how to teach them!
