GIVE YOUR WILL TO GOD

What can we give to God?
.
Growing up, my mom would read the book “The Giving Tree” to me. I’ve read the book many times over the years.
.
The tree was always happy to see the young boy return and was still willing and glad to give everything he had to the boy.
.
The boy knew the tree provided essential things for him when he would visit. He trusted and returned to the tree because the tree never failed him—he would have everything he needed.
.
At the end of a good life, the boy returned and just wanted rest. So, the tree provided just that.
.
”Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
.
This life can give us unique challenges and difficult burdens. At the end of our lives on earth, our Father in Heaven will provide us with rest with Him in his kingdom.
.
How can we make sure of this and what can we give to the Lord during our time on earth when He has given us everything?
.
A few scriptures and a quote from Elder Maxwell will help enlighten our minds.
.
We can submit our flesh and our will to God when we are “anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of [our] own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness” (D&C 58:27). Indeed, we should be “willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon [us]” (Mosiah 3:19).
.
”The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”
.
Just like the tree gave everything to the boy when he returned and asked, our Heavenly Father asks us to talk to Him in prayer. He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He asks us to Hear Him and submit our will to Him.
.
And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?
Alma 5:25
