My thoughts go to the missionaries this morning.
–
Who are the Elders and Sisters? They have black name tags and walk your communities. Have you listened to their message or do you run inside and pretend you’re not home?
–
This is why you should take the time to listen to them!
–
Did you know scriptures are made from prophetic utterances, both written and oral? It’s true. We read in Doctrine & Covenants 46:13 – To some it is given by the Holy Ghost to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he was crucified for the sins of the world.
–
The Elders and the Sisters bear testimony of Jesus Christ. When a testimony is borne by them, and when they are moved by the spirit, the message they share with you is scripture.
–
They are given keys. These keys are the right to enjoy the blessings of communication with the heavens and the privilege and authority to administer in the ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ, to preach the gospel of repentance, and of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins.
–
Not everyone can just go do what our missionaries do. In Doctrine & Covenants, we learn, “Again I say unto you that it shall not be given to anyone to go forth and preach my gospel, or to build up my church except he be ordained by some one who has authority …”
–
D&C 68:4 – ”whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shall be the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation.”
–
Take time to listen to the missionaries. They bring a saving message. They bring a spirit into your life that you may not have experienced before.
–
I was once a missionary, and I have seen lives changed, and I have witnessed these ”Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ.”
