Things Change

Things change!
.
We need to be careful not to judge an individual of the past by today’s standards.
.
I know it’s hard to accept sometimes what people or governments did since the beginning of time; however, no one is asking you to accept or understand. You’re just being asked not to judge.
.
“Judge not, that ye be not judged” (3 Ne. 14:1; Matt. 7:1). SEE JST
.
I have no idea what things were like back in the days of Joseph Smith, nor do I hang my hat on some anti-literature or opinion of a hater of the Church.
.
No, I follow the scriptures— “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, & upbraideth not; & it shall be given him.” We are all familiar with that chapter & verse in James 1:5.
.
That’s also out of the Bible for those who preach, “A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, & there cannot be any more Bible.”
.
So, here I am to tell you, I am following a chapter & verse from THE Bible, & it told me I could receive a personal witness from God.
.
What witness would that be?
.
The witness that I know there is another book that has brought me complete guidance and joy—this would be the Book of Mormon.
.
I also have prayed time and time again for the knowledge of the truth and righteousness. Every time I do, I am brought to the absolute knowledge that God restored His church to the earth once again. I know Joseph Smith was His faithful servant and did exactly what he was asked to do.
.
I am not ignorant to believe things are the same today as they were in His time. I have enough faith and evidence that God is merciful and answers my prayers. I know wrong from right, and I know good from evil.
.
As a police officer, that’s what I’ve done for 13 years—I analyze good and evil. Many times I go with my ’gut’ in sketchy situations. The spirit has guided me repeatedly to make the right decisions and steered me away from serious harm and potential death.
.
It’s that same feeling I get when I read the scriptures when I pray and ask for answers. It’s the same feeling I received many years ago to the knowledge and truth of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, the prophet.
.
Hear Him!
